The Icelandic highlands are best known for incredibly diverse landscapes and breathtaking beauty. We will head off the beaten path on this tour, and you will witness some of the most extraordinary sights Iceland has to offer.
As we travel through the highlands, we will fly over places like Háifoss waterfall, the colourful mountains and geothermal areas at Landmannalaugar, and the crater lakes of Veiðivötn. We will explore the highlands as far as the south-western edge of Vatnajökull glacier, where you´ll find Langisjór (long lake) pressed in between two mountain ranges and Laki craters, which were created in a massive eruption in 1783.
As we make our way back towards the capital, you will see both Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers and hear about the volcanoes that lie underneath them. Continuing along the south coast to our final destination, we will pass a few glacial rivers revealing how the glacial waters create amazing braids in different colours over the volcanic black sands.
